My 667th Purposeful Time at Work - Take Time to Find It

Work has never been this busy. Ever since the change in the structure where every site has been assigned a lead to take over, it has over stressed the meaning of ‘workaholic,’ ‘lack of sleep’ and everything related to it. In the past, the funny antics of Ms Swan from MAD TV would normally remind me to laugh to lessen stress, it still does, but after a laugh, a formation of thought about the day ahead – what needs to be done, what tasks need to be accomplished - all these have been part of the daily routine.

Looking back to the year that passed, I’ve been a witness to how the campaign grew and the people who benefited from the seeds that were planted. They come and go. Some stepped up, some left. It’s gratifying to see the people who got promoted who were once in my supervision. In the end, all I can hope for is for them to remember me. I guess I’m just learning to give value to the things I’m good at. Perhaps I’m learning to know what it meant to stay at my current role and press on knowing that I could leave it anytime I want and step up like the others.

I guess what’s really important is finding the purpose of why we do things. We may be bored a hundred times, switched jobs a thousand, accepted new roles a million times…… but nothing beats finding your own purpose. It’s what keeps me looking for what’s ahead. It’s what keeps a man’s dream alive.
